March 1 Women’s Fair Focuses on Health, Wellness, and Education

350th Celebration Exhibit Highlights Milestones for County Women Past to Present

LA PLATA, Maryland - January 22, 2008 - Registration is underway for the 2008 Charles County’s Women Fair to be held Saturday, March 1, from 8 a.m.-3:15 p.m. at the Center for Business and Industry on the La Plata Campus of the College of Southern Maryland.

Presented by the Charles County Commission for Women, this annual event will feature morning breakout sessions and afternoon roundtable workshops, a keynote address by Christine Stefanides, President and CEO of Civista Health, Inc., a health and wellness center and an exhibit hall.

Breakout and roundtable topics will focus on women’s health, wellness, and education including; better healthcare, breast cancer facts and myths, making an idea a business, protecting your child’s MySpace, water gardening, learning to text message, feeding your kids with love and good sense, learning to text your kids, financial planning for caregivers of aging relatives, and much more.

Throughout the day attendees will have an opportunity to visit the health and wellness center featuring complimentary; screenings, demonstrations and services. Screenings will include blood pressure, diabetes, hearing, stress, depression and anxiety, body fat, spinal, bone density and cholesterol. Demonstrations will include meditation, yoga, stability ball and pilates; Services will include seated massage, reflexology, foot therapy, reiki, acupuncture and ion cleanse.

Highlights of the event will be a presentation by local storyteller Pat Harris and an exhibit depicting the major milestones of Charles County women from past to present to commemorate the 350th Anniversary of the County.
