LA PLATA, Maryland - - The 13th annual Civista 5k and Walk/Run for Wellness, was held on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. on the streets of La Plata.
The benefit was a huge success, raising over $28,000 for Civista Health Center thanks to over 600 participants, sponsors, and volunteers.
As a sponsor and volunteer, the staff at Longevity Studios recruited participants to run or walk. Cliff Long, President and CEO of Longevity Studios, and Jane Pomponio, Director of Corporate and Group Wellness, provided stretching services to the runners and walkers after the event. Stephanie Hamilton, Longevity Studios Event Coordinator, assisted with providing information about health education services to participants.
This was a fun family event that gave people in the town of La Plata an opportunity to do a lot for their community, socialize, and improve their personal health.

Participants had the opportunity to run or walk and each received a t-shirt, sports bag, and post-race brunch. Services included seated massage by Mary Anne Freese of Whispering Winds Wellness Center, and stretching offered by Longevity Studios.
Prizes were given for top Male and Female by age group (10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over), for 5K Run and Wheelchair. Bonifant Trophies were awarded for Top Male and Female High School Teams. The Corporate Cup was awarded to the top corporate team and prizes were awarded for the top 10 walkers.
The staff of Longevity Studios would like to recognize and congratulate, Kathy Boone, Ray Dickerson, and Debbie Dotson. They consistently trained with Longevity Studios Human Performance Consultants to run the Civista 5k, and finished the race with impressive times.
