Individual Training

During the past 30+ years, I have literally lost and regained hundreds of pounds over and over again so I am thrilled to say the staff at Longevity Studios has helped me change my life FOREVER!

I have been going to Longevity Studios for about 20 months and working exclusively with Marty for the past eight. Thanks to my trainers, I have lost over 90 pounds, I am in the best shape of my life, I have a passion for lifting weights and I am actually running and winning medals in local 5K and 10K races. Most importantly, at the age of 43, I can finally say I know how to LIVE healthy!

Natasha is an excellent trainer. I've been training with her since July. She has made such a tremendous impact in my life since I have met her. She played a huge role in rebuilding my self esteem. She also helped me regain focus in the things that should matter to me. As far as being a trainer, I saw definitions in my body immediately. She made the workouts fun and I never felt the hour go by. I couldn't get off of the couch! I was in a rut and could not motivate myself to participate in life. I knew I needed to make some changes, starting with being able to get myself moving. We always hear how important exercise is, but the gym experience, Jazzercize and trying it on my own had not worked for me. I needed a more personal experience in a setting that wasn't intimidating in order to commit myself to an exercise program. After seeing their ad in the local paper, I started training at Longevity Studios. It didn't take long to realize their philosophy toward fitness was different. They didn't make a big deal about my weight or the flab around my middle, they were concerned about my total well-being. I found out I didn't have to kill myself working out everyday or live off of carrots and celery sticks. The support and encouragement I've received has enabled me to make positive changes in my life. I have been working with Longevity Studios now for about 2 months. I have found them to be extremely knowledgeable about their work. I have back issues and was assured, at my initial meeting that I would be able to work out and that they review my issues and create a program tailored for me.

It is working! They have paid attention to every detail and I am getting stronger, leaner and my back is not an issue! They always ask how different exercises are affecting my back and are ALWAYS pushing me to my limits. Everyone at Longevity Studios is kind and helpful.

I can tell you that I shopped trainers and gyms in the community to find someone who understood how to work with me given that I was healing from a hip replacement. I settled on Longevity because they were obviously more experienced than other trainers I met while making the rounds. They were more respectful of my particular need such as the healing hip and my need for variety in my workout than other places and other trainers. The equipment was better quality than I saw in other places. And I just liked them. So I decide that Longevity was worth the money.  - Barrie Zucal
 

 

Longevity Studios Program Design

I've had back pain for about 4 years now. When I say back pain, I mean a constant pain that I wake up and fall asleep with. Doctors would prescribe medicine, which I didn't like taking because it made me fall asleep and I couldn't perform normal daily activities. I started working with Cliff at Longevity Studies about 3 months ago. He immediately put me on a stretching plan. He placed me on a diet. If you looked at me you'd think, "She's skinny, why does she need to go on a diet?" That's exactly what I thought too! Honestly, I thought Cliff was crazy; I had doubts about whether or not the diet and exercise would magically make my back pain disappear. After about the first week of diet and exercise I noticed a significant decrease in pain. By the end of the first month, my daily pain was gone. I still have days where my back hurts just as badly as it did before, but I no longer wake up and fall asleep with the pain. I'm a lazy person, so following an exercise plan has been hard for me. But the the plan has allowed me to exercise on my own time. I find it easiest to do when I'm watching a movie after a long day of work. My overall experience with Cliff and Longevity Studies has been absolutely amazing and completely rewarding. Along with nearly eliminating my pain, I feel more energized, and can sleep better at night. I've gained more from working with Cliff than I did in 4 years from any of my several doctors!  - Alicia Jose
 

 

Corrective Exercise

I had been working out on a regular basis, 3 to 4 times a week for 5 years, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. What a shock!  I had no family history and no risk factors. My treatment consisted of double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, a total of 8 months.  After that was finished, I had to focus on getting myself healthy again, but it was difficult.   The exhaustion I felt was overwhelming.  I had difficultly walking up steps and getting in and out of vehicles.  My legs ached and I had lost all of the muscle tone I had worked so hard to achieve.  I was determined to get back to the gym, for my mental health as well as my physical health.

After being back at the gym for several months, I decided I needed a boost, someone to help me get back on track.  I was trying to get back into shape while working out on my own, but I was not getting the results I wanted.  I decided to look into personal training and discovered Longevity Studios.  I began working with Natasha Atkinson in 2008 and I am making great progress.  I am gaining back my muscle tone and am so much stronger than ever, even before my diagnosis.  Natasha knows just what training I need to regain my strength.  I like the fact that we try new exercises to keep me motivated.  I was initially concerned about my arm, as I had a mild case of lymphadema from having my lymph nodes removed under my arm during the surgery.  After discussion with my surgeon, we decided to try lifting weights to see how the arm would react.  I started with very light weights, just 2 lbs., and it was very difficult to lift the dumbbell with my affected arm!  Natasha encouraged me to keep working and gradually we worked up to where I am now lifting much heavier weight with that arm.  I can see definition there now and it is so much stronger than before.

I turned 60 years old on 20 January 2007, enjoying a wonderful surprise party with family and dear friends.  I was a successful business man and a life-long resident of Charles County. I always took pride in our small town and friendly community.  Physically, I was in great shape, playing tennis often and exercising daily.   In the early hours of January 25th, 2007, my life changed--I had a left middle cerebral artery aneurysm rupture causing a stroke.  It has been almost three years of hospitalizations, rehabilitation, and therapy.  Because of so many wonderful doctors, therapists, family and friends, I am a stroke survivor. 

After brain surgery in August 2007, I was going to PT two days a week.  I was receiving the normal routine for weakness on my right side—not doing very well physically or mentally.  A friend who is also a stroke survivor had joined the Longevity team for help and told me about how great it had been for her.  I met Cliff Long in January 2008 and started a three-day program in February.  

On the first visit to Longevity I knew I was going to be given full attention to my physical and mental needs.  I have been with Longevity for almost two years.  I am stronger physically and emotionally stable with the help and program Longevity has provided.

My walking has become steadier and much stronger.  Physically, I am stronger and can endure more exercise.  Mentally, I have improved because of the kindness, concern and willingness of the entire staff.

Longevity Studios opened the door for my recovery by offering an individual personal touch and wellness care program.  I was not just another right-sided weakness patient—I was evaluated for my special needs and a program was initiated to meet those needs.  I look forward to my daily visits and always come away feeling great—maybe tired, but I feel great, knowing that I have received full attention to help my recovery.  I will continue my five-day program and recommend Logevity Studios to anyone for their fitness and wellness needs. Although difficult life changes have taken place, I am still here and able to continue my recovery every day.  Longevity has proven to provide friendship, hard work and a desire to help me improve. - Larry Edwards
 


Longevity at Work Corporate Fitness

I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed our “Biggest Loser” contest at work. It gave several of us the motivation that we all were lacking. You and your co-workers made it fun and were there to encourage us all. I am so proud of everyone that participated we lost a total of 233 lbs in a 6 week period and learned a lot about nutrition and exercise. I don’t think I have ever eaten so many fruits and vegetables in my life! We really missed you on Friday- it just didn’t seem right not having you to weigh us and share your knowledge with us. You all are a great team, keep up the good work! Thanks again and I am looking forward to the next challenge. - Cheryl Reiman

 

The biggest change I made was drinking lots and lots of water and I find myself not breaking this “good habit” since we’ve been done the contest. It’s awesome to have team members to encourage you when you need it and I would certainly participate again! - Terri Simmons

 

Just finished my late workout and cool down, now checking emails before hitting the water and turning in. The "No Excuse Workout" was great, learned a lot. This week was the hardest so far, but I'm still highly motivated. - Anonymous
 


Health & Wellness Seminars

Very well presented - clear, concise, just enough info to make people sit up and think. Not overwhelming and technical like seminars can be. In fact, perfect! Your seminar has made me realize that maybe I need to change my exercising program. I have back issues and so I am limited on what I can and can not do but I seem to continue to hurt myself because I go over my limit. I gain weight when I exercise so your seminar has made me reevaluate my cardio workout and I am going to try pilates and yoga and still do cardio but maybe not so aggressive. Your presentation was very direct and to the point. You included a lot of good tips and I didn't feel like you where trying to sell something. Thanks again!!!!!! - Anonymous

When you work with people that are motivational and encourage growth it comes through in the rest of your life.
